Tony Boselli's chances of being taken by the Houston Texans increased this week when the New Orleans Saints were forced to withdraw Willie Roaf from their expansion list.

Roaf and Boselli were considered the two best offensive tackles exposed to the Texans in the Feb. 18 expansion draft, but Roaf failed a league-mandated physical because of knee problems and is expected to retire.

Boselli passed his physical with the Texans last week but admitted yesterday that his weight has dipped to 295 pounds because of two shoulder surgeries. That's almost 30 pounds lighter than his listed weight of 322 pounds last season.

"Actually, I was down to 288 about 10 days ago," Boselli said.

Boselli said he still hopes to remain in Jacksonville but appears resigned to being taken by the Texans and doubts the Jaguars could afford to keep him if he isn't selected.

"It's a first-class organization [in Houston], and the people I met were super-nice and very excited," he said. …
