UNF Wins a Pair in Kennel Club Classic

The University of North Florida, ranked fifth in Collegiate Baseball's Division II poll, continues to prove it can hold its own on the Division I level.

The Ospreys won their fourth consecutive game against Division I opponents with a 9-7 victory over Birmingham Southern College last night in front of 323 fans at the Kennel Club Classic at Harmon Stadium.

Despite being the classic's only Division II team, North Florida has a 4-2 record in the two-week event.

"We play this tournament because I think we can compete with some Division I teams," UNF coach Dusty Rhodes said. "These guys have done a good job."

UNF (16-5) plays host to Butler at 3 p.m. today and faces Navy at 7 p.m., tomorrow to wrap up play in the classic.

The loss snapped a 12-game winning streak for Birmingham Southern (13-5).

UNF senior right-hander Matt Incinelli (5-1) struck out four and gave up eights hits and three earned runs in seven innings. …
