CAMDEN GROUP OFFERS TOGETHERNESS THROUGH ART

The Camden Children's Alliance and Resources is sponsoring fine arts workshops for residents of Camden County's public housing areas. The next sessions will be Saturday at the public housing community center at 501 W. Church St. in St. Marys and April 20 at the Woodbine public housing community center, 300 Georgia Ave.

The workshops coincide with Child Abuse Prevention Month and feature music and art exhibits designed to bring parents and children together.

The events run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, contact CCAR director Celenda Perry at (912) 882-7295.

SMOKE FROM HOUSE FIRE KILLED HOBOKEN MAN

A Hoboken man died of smoke inhalation from a weekend fire that destroyed his home, Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents said yesterday.

Luis Raymond Sosa Jr., 67, was found dead inside the bedroom of his Palm Street home by firefighters who battled the blaze that broke out about 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The results of an autopsy conducted at the state crime laboratory were released yesterday.

His wife, Carol Sosa, 46, wasn't injured. The fire apparently started in Luis Sosa's bedroom, GBI Special Agent in Charge John Willis said.

OUT-OF-TOWNERS SCOPED BY 'THIEF' AT MASTERS

AUGUSTA --Police are warning Masters Tournament ticket-holders to guard their badges closely.

Dearing resident Macie Hallman Jr., 27, admitted targeting out-of-town visitors in an effort to steal tournament tickets after he was arrested early Monday. The man had sold four stolen tickets for $350 minutes before his arrest, said Lt. Tony Walden of the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.

He had waited for two visitors to leave their hotel room, then smashed the window, entered the room and stole the tickets. Deputies recovered the tickets and returned them to the owners, Walden said.

Hallman was charged with felony burglary and booked into the Richmond County jail.

Walden said ticketholders should use hotel safes and should not leave Masters badges in their vehicles.
