Police Briefs Driver Facing Charges in Road-Rage Incident

A Ponte Vedra Beach man was arrested on attempted murder and other charges after a Jacksonville motorist was shot in the head following a shouting match between drivers Saturday on Butler Boulevard.

Jacksonville Beach police charged Robert Glenn Davis Jr., 30, of the 400 block of Timberwalk Court, with attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm in public.

Police said a man and his girlfriend were eastbound on Butler Boulevard in a white Ford truck about 7:40 p.m. when several young men in a car pulled alongside them as they crossed the Intracoastal Waterway bridge.

The men in the car shouted obscenities and made hand gestures toward the Ford driver and his girlfriend, then passed them. The man became enraged and pulled near the rear of the car, police said.

The car pulled to the side of the highway, but a Ryder truck pulled alongside the Ford and swerved into its lane, witnesses told police. …
