READER EVENING: INTERIOR DESIGN EVENT AT CHELSEA HARBOUR

MANY people would love to hire an interior designer to help project their personality but don't know how to find one whose ideas and style will fit in with their own. Using a designer can be a cost-effective way of doing up a house: they can save you time, help you avoid mistakes and take away much of the hassle. It can also be a learning curve, giving you the confidence to make decisions by yourself in subsequent decorating.

The purpose of this reader evening is to introduce designers with experience of working on different projects to potential clients at an informal event at Chelsea Harbour Design Centre.

The Design Centre is home to Europe's leading interior design companies, many of which are on the top floor, where the event is to be held. This will be a remarkable opportunity to view their collections.

All the top-floor showrooms specialise in different products and are full of innovative ideas. Whether you are planning to restore a period house or design a contemporary interior, there will be something and someone to inspire you.

The evening

Hosted by the top-floor showrooms, the event is on Thursday, 4 July, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, and tickets cost [pound]20 each. Guests will be welcomed with a glass of kir royale and canapes.

There will be a jazz band in the centre dome, and each of the nine top-floor showrooms will have an interior designer with a portfolio of work and design ideas to inspire you.

The designers will be introduced at the beginning of the evening, and then you can wander around the showrooms and talk to them and look at the products.

Fabrics, textiles, wallpapers, lighting, trimmings, furniture, carpets and rugs will be on show.

How to get there

By public transport: South Kensington, Fulham Broadway and Sloane Square are the nearest Underground stations to Chelsea Harbour. …
