The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2800 S. 14th St. in Fernandina Beach, is sponsoring the free "Island Summer Nights" concert series this summer.

The series will continue tomorrow with an evening of jazz and traditional music performed by artists from Fernandina Beach's African-American community.

The final concert, featuring spiritual music performed by members of the church, will be Aug. 29.


The Amelia Island Museum of History will have a ghost tour beginning at 6 p.m. Friday. Participants should wear comfortable shoes and be able to walk approximately 15 blocks.

The tour, guided by Joe Anderson, will last about 90 minutes.

The tour will begin at the cemetery gate located directly behind St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Fernandina Beach.

Tickets are on sale at Amelia Community Theatre for the musical comedy Radio Gals. Performances are at 8 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, Saturday and July 24 to 27, and at 7 p.m. Sunday. Adult tickets are $14 in advance, $16 at the door; student tickets are $7.

The box office, 209 Cedar St. in Fernandina Beach, is open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and from 6 p.m. until curtain on show nights.

Reflections of Nature, on U.S. 17 South, is sponsoring a gardening seminar at 10 a.m. Saturday. Lynda Johnson will review planting and caring for plants once they are planted. Johnson makes planters using different combinations of plants with varied colors and textures.

Class size will be limited. Cost is $4, and includes a pot and soil mixture.
