Pennant: I Can Solve Injury Crisis for Wenger

JERMAINE PENNANT says he is the man to solve Arsenal's midfield injury crisis.

The 19-year-old has yet to play in the Premiership, but believes he can cover for internationals Freddie Ljungberg (hip), Robert Pires and Giovanni van Bronckhurst (both knee) who will all miss the start of the season as they recover from surgery.

Pennant told Standard Sport: "This could be my year. The main reason is probably because of injuries, but I would have got my chance if there hadn't been any injuries this season. I've got the right attitude and have been performing well in training. Everything's been going well.

"I'm a flexible player. I can play up front, in the middle or on both wings, but my best position is probably on the right of midfield. The good thing for me is that we've got a lot of injuries so I may get a chance. …
