A LONGSTANDING feud involving Sir Elton John is finally coming to a head.

Composer Phillip Lambro has long claimed Elton and Bernie Taupin misappropriated the title for Candle in the Wind from his collaboration with the late Oscar-nominated lyricist Paul Francis Webster called Candles in the Wind. Now Lambro is finally releasing their version.

"The song was put in the browser bins at MCA music studios for artists to look at," Lambro explains. " We thought no more about it. I was absolutely astonished when Elton John recorded a song in 1973 with such a similar title.

I confronted the executive, Warren Brown, but I was told not to make waves as Elton was an important rising star for MCA."

Lambro finally prepared to launch his work upon the world in 1997 when John released his new version of Candle in the Wind as a tribute to Diana, Princess of Wales. It became the world's best-selling single. …
