Eagle Crest Inc., a 21-year-old Jacksonville maker and embroiderer of military insignia and corporate attire, might make a major Westside move.

Plans are tentative, but Eagle Crest is considering a move to develop and anchor a potential five- or six-building, 250,000-square-foot, 20-acre industrial center dubbed Westside Distribution Center at Highway Avenue.

The site is at northeast Lane and Highway avenues.

If plans proceed, Eagle Crest would anchor the first 28,000-square-foot building, moving from the Westside Distribution Center that company founder Dan Libera owns at 5353 Ramona Blvd. The relocation would significantly expand its space from 12,000 square feet to 20,000 square feet.

"We're maxed out there," said Libera, Eagle Crest's president. "It'll be a big jump for us."

Libera started the company after serving in the Navy, stationed at Jacksonville Naval Air Station.

If plans proceed, he said he would add about 10 positions to the 35-member staff.

Should plans work out, Libera expects construction could start in six months, and the first building could be completed a year from now. An informal concurrency review application filed with the city shows the project eventually could generate an estimated 100 jobs and cost at least $8.75 million.

The space not used by Eagle Crest would be available for lease.

The informal review was requested by Tom Collier Building Contractor Inc. Libera said Collier is one of the contractors under consideration for the project.

Eagle Crest focuses on military and corporate attire. Its Web site, www.eaglecrest.com, shows that it has been providing embroidered Navy ship caps, military caps, patches and insignia to the Navy, Marine Corps, Army, Air Force and Coast Guard since the company started. …
