Monday

Looked up from my desk to see a pair of cowboy boots, followed by a couple of yards of pale-blue jeans. The owner was handsome, suntanned and - sadly for the girls in the office - had a wife and two children in tow. The family is relocating from Texas and wants to rent a large house between Wandsworth and Clapham Common. I worked out a tour of 10 houses, remembering to pick up a couple of colouring books and crayons from the office supply to keep the children happy in the car.

My Texans were impressed by the schools (Honeywell, Northcote Lodge and Broomwood Hall), the greenness of the area and easy accessibility to the City. They seemed keen on a house on Walsingham Place at pound sterling700 a week, with its large garden and room for the nanny, but said they'd like to think about it. Fingers crossed!

Tuesday

Breakfast meeting at the Plantation Wharf riverside development in York Road to value an 11th floor one-andahalf bedroom apartment - was greeted by the landlord with coffee and croissants.

The view across south-west London was impressive, even through the drizzle. With the 24-hour security, parking, and Clapham Junction just 10 minutes away, it'll be perfect for a professional couple.

On to a valuation at a mansion block in Prince of Wales Road. Was slightly anxious as I entered the communal hall, as the previous week a colleague had taken a couple to view a flat there and as they walked past a groundfloor apartment, the owner popped out to collect her mail - stark naked. Awkward blushes all round, I think.

A discreet flurry of excitement when the Texan called in to the office later and made an offer of pound sterling675 a week for a one-year tenancy with option to renew.

I'll have to wait to hear from the Hong Kong-based landlord tomorrow as it's midnight there.
