A SUPERB unbeaten 150 partnership between discarded England stars Ian Ward and Mark Ramprakash put Surrey in the box seat halfway through day two of their Frizzell County Championship match against Warwickshire at Edgbaston today.

In reply to the home side's first-innings score of 345, Surrey were 183 for one off just 46 overs, with Ward unbeaten on 80 and Ramprakash 73 not out.

The only wicket to fall was that of Jonathan Batty, who made just eight before he was caught by Shaun Pollock off Melvyn Betts's bowling.

At the start of the day, last man Betts had been an unlikely hero with the bat for Warwickshire as he smashed 47 from just 67 deliveries to help the hosts to 345.
