A 22-year-old Southside man was arrested Thursday on warrants for aggravated battery of a pregnant woman and aggravated assault after police said he threatened and hit his girlfriend July 6 during a fight in the 3900 block of Atlantic Boulevard. Police also said the man was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and driving with a suspended license after he was pulled over in his truck at Atlantic Boulevard and Bowlan Street.

Police said the man was stopped because he matched the description of someone listed on warrants. Further investigation confirmed his identity, police said.

The attack on the 18-year-old woman happened at 10 a.m. July 6, when the man pointed a silver handgun at the woman and said he would kill her before punching her in the stomach, police said. The man gave the gun to a neighbor who came out to help, and left.

Police said they saw the man driving to work at 2:30 p.m. Thursday and pulled him over, finding plastic bags of marijuana in two of his pockets before arresting him.

Following are the crimes and other incidents reported recently on the Southside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office:

-- An unidentified man tried to steal money from a clerk's pants pocket early Aug. 21 before taking a beer from the Hess station convenience store at 5405 Beach Blvd.

Police said the man walked into the store at 4:55 a.m. and asked if he could buy a beer. When he was told he couldn't until 6 a.m., police said the man grabbed the 24-year-old clerk and began to feel around in her pockets while demanding her money. The woman pushed him away and said she was calling the police, so he walked to a cooler, grabbed a bottle of beer and walked out.
