JU Faces Tough Hoops Schedule

Jacksonville University has made back-to-back first-round exits in the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament, but coach Hugh Durham expects his veteran basketball team to make a deeper run this season after going through a schedule that features seven defending conference champions, four NCAA Tournament participants and three NIT teams.

"It's a demanding schedule. We're going to be tested early and often," Durham said "We have an experienced team, so we look forward to stepping up to the challenge. Our goal is to win the league, win the [league] tournament and go to the NCAA Tournament."

JU has a lighter conference load with 16 league games compared to last season's 20 because of the A-Sun's split into two divisions. The Dolphinsreturn four starters, including All-Atlantic Sun guard Kevin Sheppard and former Sandalwood High star Calvin Warner, from last season's 18-12 squad.
