Scott Wilson is headed to the state high school football playoffs, but unlike the other 191 playoff-bound coaches in the state, Wilson doesn't know where he's playing yet.

The West Nassau coach drew Madison County in the first round for the second consecutive year. Madison is a district champion and the Warriors are a wild-card entry, which means the Cowboys should play host in the game.

Terms of Madison's FHSAA probation stipulate that the team cannot host a playoff game this season, stemming from an incident last season in which South Sumter claimed several its cheerleaders were knocked down by Madison players after a playoff game last year. However, Wilson said a court-ordered injunction to allow Madison to host the Warriors has his team's venue in limbo.

"I don't know what will happen yet," Wilson said. "Supposedly, there's going to be a hearing on it this week, Tuesday is the earliest they could do it, and then we'll know something."

West Nassau traveled to Madison last season and was beaten 69-0.

"As good as Madison is, I don't know if playing them at home will make a difference or not," Wilson said. "But we'd definitely much rather play it here if we can."

The Cowboys (8-0) are the defending Class 2A state champions, and have not allowed more than eight points in a game all season. Madison's court fortunes may be of interest to Bolles as well. Madison and Bolles could face each other in the third round of the playoffs, though it's unclear if Madison's hearing this week would have any possible impact on that game.

Elsewhere among area playoff teams, Lee made the Class 3A bracket as a wild-card entry in a narrow tiebreaker over Bradford. The Generals' first-round opponent is no prize, however: St. Augustine. The Yellow Jackets (9-0) drew Lee in the first round last year and handled the Generals 18-0. …
