Question: The NFL is really starting to penalize defenders tackling with the crown of their helmets. In your opinion, does this take away some of the agressiveness of some players such as Donovan Darius, whose play revolves around his physical presence and being able to deliver the big hit?
Coughlin's answer: Players can still be aggressive and physical without using the crown of the helmet. This is a safety issue, and it is important that players at all levels are taught to hit and tackle properly. The game of football requires aggressiveness and physical play, but always within the rules.
Question: What is the reason why kickoff returners are usually not the same as punt returners? For example, why is Elvis Joseph on kickoff returns but not used on punt returns? What is the skill difference?
Coughlin's answer: Handling the kick is very different for punts and kickoffs. …
