The woman, whose name is not being released, went into the Gun Gallery at 10268 Beach Blvd. about 1 p.m., police said. Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Director Frank Mackesy said she took a gun into the indoor range, practiced firing a few rounds then shot herself in the chest.

He said an address for the woman's family was not immediately available. The range closed yesterday afternoon.
