Natural selection

Mammoth savings: To make way for all its new merchandise coming in, the main gallery shop at the Natural History Museum has cut prices on existing stock: giraffe- and zebra-design glasses from u10.95 to u5.25, lab-style spice racks from u29.99 to u23.99 and "flooded-house" soup bowls from u19.99 to u10.99.

See the new Darwin Centre while you're there. It's wonderful. Natural History Museum, Cromwell Road, SW7 (020 7942 5000).

Spring habitats: More jolly colours from Habitat this spring: tomato-red, deep aubergine, lime green and a duck-egg blue among them. The pop style includes bold cartoon stripes and polka dots. My favourites are a galvanised metal watering can, a wacky chandelier in lime green called Garland and the Metro table set of one table and two chairs (right) that collapse into a flat-pack, and a range of outdoor free-standing parasols. See Habitat's Spring/ Summer in stores now.

The Kinetico 2020c Compact model is specifically designed with the space-conscious in mind. It'll fit under the kitchen sink, and is fashionably sleek and silvery. It costs around u1,172 (plus installation). For more information call 0800 0151 380 or see www.kinetico.co.uk.

Shot in the dark

Night visions: A glow-in-the-dark loo seat might not be a bad idea for people who stumble to the smallest room in the middle of the night and don't want to turn on the lights. This fluorescent masterpiece, available from West One Bathrooms, costs u99. There are four London showrooms; for your nearest, call 020 7499 1845. …
