Del Rio Completes Jags' Coaching Staff

Jack Del Rio hired another coach with ties to the Baltimore Ravens yesterday as he completed his 16-man coaching staff.

The Jaguars announced that Mark Asanovich, 43, the Ravens' assistant strength and conditioning coach last year, will be the Jaguars' new strength and conditioning coach.

They also announced that Todd Howard, 37, will be a defensive assistant after spending the last three years as the linebackers coach at Louisiana Tech.

Del Rio, who spent three years as the Ravens' linebackers coach before going to Carolina as the defensive coordinator last year, had hired three other former Baltimore coaches: defensive coordinator Mike Smith, assistant coach Steve Shafer and defensive backs coach Alvin Reynolds.

Smith replaced Del Rio as the Ravens' linebackers coach last year. Shafer, who was out of football last year, was with the Ravens from 1999-2001 and Reynolds was with the Ravens from 1996-1998 before going to Carolina. …
