STEWARD 'RAPED WOMAN ON JET'; Arrest after 'Sex Attack' on Flight Back to Britain

AN AIRLINE steward has been arrested after a British holidaymaker claimed she was raped on a flight home.

The woman, who was travelling with her husband and children, claims she was assaulted aboard the Airbus jet during a flight back from Mauritius to England.

She was highly distressed when she got off the flight and complained to airport staff that she had been sexually assaulted. She said the attack took place at the back of the aircraft, near the lavatories.

Staff from Air Mauritius called police and the air steward was arrested.

It is thought to be the first case in which a member of a cabin crew has been accused of a sex attack on a passenger.

The woman was interviewed by police and examined by a doctor. It is understood she had been drinking during the 12-hour flight. After being questioned, the air steward was released on police bail for two months.

The steward, who is in his thirties and a Mauritian national, was immediately suspended on full pay and taken back to his home country on the next flight from London. …
