Police Briefing; Man, 20, Arrested on Grand Theft Charge

Following are the crimes and other incidents reported recently in the Southside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office:

-- A 20-year-old Southside man was arrested at 1:26 p.m. Feb. 26 on a charge of grand theft after he unhooked an auto boot locked on his car wheel by police at the University of North Florida, 4567 St. Johns Bluff Road S. and stole it, police said. University police said the car was booted at 7 p.m. Feb. 25 because its owner had a large number of tickets. But it was missing the next day.

Jacksonville police found the man and his car at 12:15 p.m. Feb. 26 and found the boot in his trunk, according to the police report.

-- Three men, ages 24, 25 and 27, were arrested early Feb. 26 on charges of trespass after they were escorted out of T-Birds at 9039 Southside Blvd. and refused to leave, police said. Two of the men were also charged with disorderly intoxication after causing a disturbance in the bar, while the third was charged with resisting an officer after he took off his shirt and acted like he wanted to fight, police said. …
