Hunt for the Murderer of Brilliant Student Hannah; A Level Girl's Body Found after Night Out

A TEENAGE girl murdered as she walked home from a bus stop was an outstanding student expecting a successful career as a doctor, it was revealed today.

Hannah Foster, 17, whose body was found in a country lane near her home yesterday, had recently won a place at Bristol University to study medicine after getting five A grades in mock A-level exams.

Hampshire police revealed details of the "model student and daughter" today as they launched one of the county's biggest ever manhunts to catch her killer.

Hannah is thought to have been attacked on Friday night as she took a five-minute walk home from her local bus stop after a night out with friends.

Today detectives warned other women in the area to be vigilant and disclosed that they were liaising with colleagues working on the case of murdered Surrey teenager Milly Dowler, who vanished a year ago this week.

While they said it was too early to rule out a link between the two cases, they stressed that it was "routine" for colleagues to compare notes in such cases.

A police spokesman said today: "Our senior investigating officer will be liaising with the Milly Dowler senior investigating officer some time today.

It is nothing sinister, we will be liaising with inquiry teams of other suspected abductions across the UK."

Hannah's parents, Trevor and Hilary, and 14-year-old sister, Sarah, were last night being comforted by police officers at their u400,000 detached home in the Portswood area of Southampton, and were too upset to talk.

Detective Inspector Tony Adams, leading the murder hunt, said: "Our hearts go out to Hannah's family and friends. She had no problems at home and was a model daughter. No stone will be left unturned in our investigation."

He added: "Hannah was a college student and in all respects she can be described as a model student and daughter. …
