PALM BEACH GARDENS -- Davis Love III is feeling good and having fun. The combination has already produced one victory on the PGA Tour this year, and he's 18 holes away from a second in today's final round of the Honda Classic.

The St. Simons Island, Ga., resident came from three shots off the lead with a birdie-eagle-birdie streak in the middle of his round, then made two more birdies among his final four holes yesterday at the Mirasol Club Sunset Course for a 65 and a 54-hole score of 20-under-par 196. Love has a one-shot lead over Justin Leonard (64), who barged into the final group by making birdies on his last six holes.

Chris Riley (65) also closed strong with four consecutive birdies, and is alone in third at 18-under. Six players are tied at 17-under, led by veterans Billy Mayfair (64), Jerry Kelly (67) and 36-hole co-leader Notah Begay (69).

The tournament was suspended for two hours in the early afternoon because of lightning in the area. It was the third weather or darkness delay in three days.

"Glad to be done," Love said. "I played well and got the score I needed."

Love has plenty of company at the top of the leaderboard. Twenty other players are within five shots of him as Sunset Course continued to yield low scores.

Because of the forecast of more thunderstorms for today, the players be grouped in threesomes, and start off the first and 10th tees at 8:12 a.m. The final group of Love, Leonard and Riley will tee off at 10 a.m., and barring more weather delays, could finish as early as 2:30 p.m.

The broadcast time for NBC of 3-6 p.m. will not change. The network will air the final round on a tape-delay basis.

Love began the day with seven pars in a row, which, on Mirasol this week, is back-tracking. …
