SHOPPING CENTER

A public meeting on a proposed shopping center at Palm Valley and Mickler roads in Palm Valley will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Ponte Vedra Beach branch library, 101 Library Blvd. The developers, The Sembler Co. of St. Petersburg, want to build The Shoppes at Palm Valley, a 55,000-square-foot center with a bank, grocery store and other small retail outlets. Developers' representatives will be there to get input from residents.

SCHOOL SEARCH

St. Johns County's northeast high school site selection committee will have a meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Rawlings Elementary School, 610 Florida A1A N. in Ponte Vedra Beach. County school officials want to build a high school in the Ponte Vedra Beach area, preferably east of the Intracoastal Waterway, for about 1,500 students. About 1,225 Nease High School students now live in that area and travel County Road 210 and across the Palm Valley Bridge about 13 miles to school.

RAPE AWARENESS

The Betty Griffin House sexual assault program coordinator will discuss safety measures Tuesday as part of sex assault awareness month.

Nicolle Bauer will speak at the event, which starts at 10:30 a.m. at the Ponte Vedra beach branch library at Library Boulevard and Florida A1A.

Bauer will discuss the use of safety whistles, teal ribbon pins and other issues. Admission is free and the public is invited. For reservations, call 808-8544.

SUNS GAME FOR SENIORS

The Neptune Beach Senior Activity Center is inviting seniors to attend the Jacksonville Suns season opener on April 11.

The senior center has chartered transportation for 48 people, arranged a special Lower Deck Party Package with one-hour "All You Can Eat" hot dogs, hamburgers, popcorn and soft drinks and reserved seating.
