Tulsa Companies to Hire More in 4Q Than OKC Employers

Tulsa area companies have more aggressive hiring plans for the fourth quarter than Oklahoma City firms, according to a quarterly survey by Manpower Inc.

For the quarter, 57 percent of the employers in the Tulsa area plan to increase staff levels while only 3 percent plan to cut workers, according to the survey.

Only 37 percent of the Oklahoma City area employers plan to increase staff levels during the quarter while 7 percent plan to reduce workforce levels, the survey found.

"Oklahoma City area employers have much softer hiring intentions than in the third quarter when 60 percent of the companies interviewed intended to add staff and 3 percent planned to reduce headcount," said Steven Clay, spokesman with Manpower in Oklahoma City.

"Employers in Oklahoma City have more positive hiring intentions than they did a year ago when 23 percent of companies surveyed thought employment increases were likely and 7 percent intended to cut back," he said.

The hiring outlook for Oklahoma employers is more optimistic than nationwide. …
