Tulsa-Based Addison Group Expands into Texas, Adds New Administrative Division

Article excerpt

The Addison Group has expanded both its services and market area, entering Texas under the name TAG Resources.

This marks the first physical expansion for the Tulsa-based temporary employment company since its May 2005 venture into Oklahoma City. The new Houston office represents the first of two planned for the Lone Star State's largest city, with others targeted for Dallas, San Antonio and possibly Austin.

All outside Oklahoma will operate under the TAG Resources moniker.

"We plan to open one new office every year for the next five years," said David W. Moore, a 12-year industry veteran who founded Addison with Rob Zumwalt. "By 2010, we intend to hit revenue of $20 million."

That would prove quite a leap for a firm that opened just five years ago, during the post-9/11 recession. But Moore said the family- oriented company is already on track to hit that target, with Addison enjoying a 50-percent revenue hike this year despite its 16- member payroll doubling over the last two months.

Brick and mortar isn't the firm's only foundation for growth. Moore expects to add a similar division in Oklahoma City next year, continuing the firm's diversification efforts. Zumwalt said they are considering other services that would complement its existing client base and offerings.

"We're building our business here not only by placing talent here but by building infrastructure here," said Moore. "Every year we've had double-digit growth, sometimes triple-digit."

Up to 85 percent of its business draws from temporary placement contracts. Although he acknowledged a market trend toward contract- to-hire, Moore expects Addison to continue its reliance upon the temporary sector, averaging 60 to 80 placements a month. …
