Happy Tax Day II everyone. Those of you who did not file for an extension of time to submit your 2001 income tax return probably don't have today's date marked on your calendars. Hopefully those of you who did file for an extension know today is the end of the automatic four-month extension period. My how time flies.

The summer season has flown also and, as parents know, vacation time is over and school is back in session in most Oklahoma County communities. Let's be careful out there as the kids populate our streets and schoolyards.

Summer jury trial hiatus is over, too, at the county courthouse. Jury trials will resume Aug. 26 and every two weeks thereafter, until the end of the year, with the exception of November, which only has one jury trial week.

There will soon be a couple of judge changes of interest to attorneys and other court patrons. Attorney Daniel Durocher has been appointed special judge to fill the position previously held by Judge David Harbour, who was appointed as district judge by the governor. …
