University Boulevard, A.B. Hollingsworth's second novel, has been released.
Hollingsworth, medical director of Mercy Women's Center, said University Boulevard follows characters from his first novel, Flatbellies, as they enter college in the late 1960s.
The 392-page University Boulevard was published by Clock Tower Press in Ann Arbor, Mich.
I call this a stand alone sequel, he said. While some of the characters from Flatbellies return, the reader doesn't have to be familiar with Flatbellies to enjoy University Boulevard.
The new novel begins in 1967 as characters from the first novel enter an Oklahoma university where Greek letter societies reign.
Flatbellies was released nationwide in the spring of 2001 and has sold 45,000 copies. He is working on his third novel.
He is also the author of The Truth About Breast Cancer Risk Assessment, commissioned by the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Hollingsworth is a native of El Reno and a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and the OU College of Medicine. His residency training in general surgery was at the OU Health Sciences Center and he completed a one-year fellowship in surgical pathology at UCLA in 1977.
He entered private practice in Southern California in 1980. He returned to OU in 1989 and was founding medical director of the OU Institute for Breast Health. In 1999, he joined the staff at Mercy Health Center as medical director of the breast cancer program.
