SBA Loan Tallies Increase in Sooner State

The U.S. Small Business Administration made 691 loans to small businesses in Oklahoma during the fiscal year ended Sept. 30, an increase of 119 loans from the previous fiscal year.

The loans totaled $130 million and resulted in an estimated 5,785 jobs being created or retained, according to the SBA.

This is the result of the positive approach we have taken in the region, said Regional Administrator Joseph Montes. These results reaffirm out commitment to providing increased access to capital to the small business community.

BancFirst was the top lender in the Oklahoma District for the SBA. Innovative Bank was second and Bank of America third, according to the SBA.

Nationwide, a record number of small businesses received SBA credit assistance during the fiscal year. The increase included sharp jumps in the number of loans to women, minorities and veterans.

During the fiscal year, the SBA backed 76,465 loans to small businesses nationwide in the agency's three major loan programs. …
