OKC Area Home Sales Increase 11.3% Last Month

Metro area home sales climbed 11.3 percent in October from the same period a year ago, according to new data released Tuesday.

The Oklahoma City Metropolitan Association of Realtors said the number of home sales closed for the month rose to 1,531 from a reported 1,358 in October 2002. The collective value of homes sold in October also jumped 17.9 percent to $187 million from $153.49 million.

However, October home sales were down 2.7 percent from the 1,573 homes sold in September 2003. The slight decline from the previous month's activity was a result of seasonal buying trends, according to association officials.

Values also remained strong in October with a 7.5 percent increase in the average price per home sold. The average price during the month was $122,145, up from $113,023 in October 2002. The average sales price was also up slightly from September's $121,573.
