AAA Oklahoma Predicts More Oklahomans Will Be Traveling over Thanksgiving Period

AAA Oklahoma predicts that 462,300 Oklahomans will be traveling by motor vehicle over the Thanksgiving holiday period, a 2 percent increase from last year.

Another 55,200 will be flying, up 3.3 percent over Thanksgiving 2002, according to an AAA forecast.

The travel season finished strong this summer and we expect the trend to continue through the Thanksgiving holiday, said Chuck Mai, AAA Oklahoma spokesman. We're advising travelers to allow plenty of trip time due to crowded roadways, busy airports and tight security.

Auto travelers across the country will find gas prices down about 24 cents from the all-time high set before the Labor Day holiday. Thursday's AAA Fuel Gauge national average of $1.50 for a gallon of self-serve regular was about 4 cents per gallon higher than last Thanksgiving.

In Oklahoma, the average of $1.346 on Thursday was half a cent below the statewide price average on Nov. 13, 2002, and 7.6 cents lower than one month ago. Prices were even lower today in Tulsa ($1. …
