Christian Heritage Academy Wins Oklahoma High School Mock Trial Championship

Christian Heritage Academy in Del City defeated Putnam City North High School in the final round of competition to claim the Oklahoma High School Mock Trial Championship.

The competition was held at the University of Oklahoma College of Law in Norman. The two teams argued a civil case alleging that inadequate supervision of a school-sponsored activity resulted in hazing-related injuries to a student.

The Christian Heritage Academy team will compete at the national competition in Orlando, Fla., in May, said Oklahoma Bar Association President Harry Woods.

The OBA, its Young Lawyers Division and the Oklahoma Bar Foundation are sponsors of the mock trial program.

Canadian County District Judge Edward C. Cunningham served as presiding judge for the competition. Judges Reta Strubhar, Niles L. Jackson, Dana L. Rasure, David B. Lewis, Craig Key and Millie Otey served as scoring judges.

The judges evaluated the students based on their familiarity of the case and the formulation of their arguments. …
