While J. Taylor Currie was majoring in economics at the University of Oklahoma, he knew he wanted to be involved in the financial side of the business.

Currie graduated in December 1995 and began working as a marketing representative for John Hancock Financial Services in Oklahoma City before being hired by Southwestern Bank & Trust Co. He joined the staff at National Bank of Commerce in 1999 where he is responsible for acquiring, underwriting and servicing a consumer and commercial loan portfolio.

He operates under the business philosophy that learning as much as possible about customers' businesses will make him better equipped to understand their needs and react to them in a timely manner.

I don't think it would be fair to my customer to be their banker and not have a thorough understanding of their business and what they are trying to accomplish. It is also not fair to my employer to loan out his money without clear knowledge of the borrowers' business and their capacity to repay those funds and how certain events may affect the repayment, Currie said. …
