Oklahoma City residents apparently are just not the coffee bar set.

A survey of the top local markets for coffee bar patronage by Scarborough Research of New York ranked Oklahoma City 65th among 75 U.S. cities.

At least Oklahoma City was more coffee-bar worthy than Tulsa, which ranked 72nd in the survey.

According to the survey, 12 percent of adults nationwide have been to a coffee bar during the past month. Only 7 percent of Oklahoma City's residents visited a coffee bar during the month.

Coffee bar patronage was highest on the West Coast, the top six cities in the survey were on or very near the Pacific Ocean.

San Francisco was the top local market for coffee bar patronage with 26 percent of this city's adults patronizing a coffee bar within the last month. Seattle, 23 percent; Portland, Ore., 21 percent; San Diego, 20 percent; Sacramento, 20 percent; and Los Angeles, 19 percent, were the top six cities in the survey.

Denver, ranked seventh at 18 percent, was the highest inland city on the list. …
