Oklahoma 'Achievers under 40' Profile: Kevin Calvey

Rep. Kevin Calvey, R-Oklahoma City, has done a little bit of everything.

He is currently the chairman of the state House Revenue and Taxation Committee, responsible for all tax legislation.

The graduate of Bishop McGuiness High School was a 1984 National Merit Scholar. Calvey attended the University of Dallas and graduated cum laude in 1988.

Five years later, Calvey earned his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C., and became an attorney. He moved back to the Sooner State and established his own law practice.

In 1998, Calvey was elected to the House of Representatives from District 94 - southeast Oklahoma City and Del City. He was the first Republican and the youngest person ever elected from that district.

Calvey earned a Pathfinder Award from The State Chamber and several Guardian of Small Business awards from the National Federation of Independent Businesses.

I thoroughly enjoy serving the legislature, Calvey said. It is very rewarding being able to assist citizens in getting information about their government, and to cut through government red tape to bring assistance to those who need it. …
