Deep Fork Makes Quick Turnaround with Charlie Newton's in OKC

Deep Fork Group had a quick job to do, and in only six days, it opened another restaurant.

Deep Fork bought Newton's at 1025 NW 70th St. from Rick and David Haynes of Johnnie's Charbroiled Broiler on Sept. 1, and on Wednesday, it reopened the restaurant as Charlie Newton's.

It was an amazing opportunity for us, said Wade Star of Deep Fork Group. We feel like we did a lot of work in a week, including painting and carpeting.

The restaurant has undergone several name changes over the years. Originally the Kentucky Club in the 1940s and 1950s, it became Belle's in the 1970s and Newton's in 1988.

This has been a hidden gem for a long time, Star said.

Star said the group added private dining space for 30 upstairs in the restaurant.

We've taken a lot of the menu that was already here, which featured pan-fried chicken, he said. …
