McAfee & Taft Absorbs Some OKC-Based McKinney & Stringer Lawyers

McKinney & Stringer, once the city's third-largest law firm, has split into various divisions, and McAfee & Taft, the city's largest firm, is getting larger.

McAfee & Taft on Monday announced it has hired McKinney & Stringer co-founder Martin Stringer and three others from the corporation and business solutions practice group.

Stringer co-founded McKinney & Stringer in 1971. He'll be joined by Phil Sears, James Crumpley and Tom Baker, McAfee & Taft Managing Director John Hermes said.

Stringer said the decision at McKinney & Stringer was made to reconfigure into several firms based on practice groups. David Cheek, an attorney with McKinney and Stringer, said the reconfiguration would result in at least three new firms.

A number of options presented themselves to me after we made the decision (to reconfigure), Stringer said. As for me, however, the opportunity to join McAfee & Taft was by far the best option, and I am looking forward with great anticipation to using my experience to do what I truly love - practice law at a firm with broad resources and expertise. …
