Heartland Chapter of the National Television Academy Awards Emmy to NewsChannel 4

The Heartland Chapter of the National Television Academy awarded Oklahoma's NewsChannel 4's anchor Kevin Ogle and photojournalist Tony Stizza an Emmy for Survivor's Story, a news piece about an Oklahoma man who lost his arm in a washing machine accident 40 years ago when he was a basketball player for Oklahoma State University. It became the second successful limb reattachment in U.S. history.

The story is so compelling that it practically tells itself, said Ogle.

Survivor's Story won in the Soft News Report category.

One of most competitive and most entered of all groups, said Stizza.

In addition to the Emmy win, the National Television Academy honored KFOR with two nominations. The Lost Tape competed in the Hard News Report category and centered on the recovered videotape from the May 3, 1999, tornado, which vanished after the disaster and was found in the spring of 2005.

The videotape contained never-before-seen footage of the deadly tornado moving through Oklahoma City. …
