But don't expect to find a Doing Business in Your Bathrobe Day card at your local Hallmark store any time soon. founder Kristie Tamsevicius created the event four years ago as a marketing promotion and to provide a sense of self-identity and pride for women working from their homes, so it's not exactly a traditional holiday. Yet.

I love my job because I get to sleep in late; I'm not one of those early morning kinds of gals. So I am normally in my pajamas for most of the morning that most people are rushing off to work anyway, said Edmond entrepreneur and candle sales mogul Stacy Brasher. This Tuesday won't be much different from any other Tuesday for me.

However, the idea has garnered interest among direct sales entrepreneurs, Brasher said - We're a pretty tightly knit community, so when you hear about something good, you tell someone else who tells someone else.

Tamsevicius said she was surprised to hear entrepreneurs in Australia picked up the concept last year, further establishing the meme worldwide. It has also spread to Canada and Ireland.

Brasher is a unit sales leader for PartyLite Candles, a young direct sales company with product marketing and distribution similar to cosmetics sales giant Mary Kay Inc. She used to work in a traditional business culture - the heels-and-hose, 9-to-5 world, she said - until her employer moved to New York, which left her looking for alternatives.

That drove Brasher to consider joining the approximately 35 million other entrepreneurs who do business at home, according to figures from the International Data Corp. research firm. The Small Business Administration's Office of Advocacy puts the number of home- based businesses at about 12 percent of the population.

Brasher said she expected a temporary job that let me look for other, serious income. That was three years ago, and she hasn't had any regrets. …
