$3M Given to Education since Opening of Remington Casino: Track Gave $500,000 to State for May

OKLAHOMA CITY - Remington Park officials announced the track's casino recently added another $500,000 to the state's education coffers.

May's contribution put Remington's education fund contribution past the $3 million plateau in the casino's first six months of operation. The payments were forwarded to the state finance department.

Officials said attendance at Remington exceeded 133,000 last month.

The track-casino also forwarded about $500,000 in April. March was the most productive month for contributions as $539,000 was sent to the state.

Remington gave $159,000 in November after a mid-month opening, $440,000 in December, $448,000 in January and $475,000 in February.

Casino General Manager Brenda Sanchez said attendance has increased steadily since it opened.

"Our promotions and special events have worked together with the excitement at the track to maintain an air of excitement," Sanchez said. "There's no doubt that we're running on all cylinders now, and with a highly anticipated thoroughbred season and Breeders' Cup still ahead, we're looking forward to sustain the momentum. …
