Jenks Plumbing Firm Buys Site to Construct Four Buildings

Article excerpt

Expanding R&W Contractors Inc. has bought 2.5 acres in Jenks to hold four new buildings.

The plumbing contractor based at 532 W. G St. in Jenks employs a staff of 72 to serve residential, government and light industrial clients. Its market area ranges across northeast Oklahoma and into northwest Arkansas.

We're also getting into the radiant floor heat business, said owner Keith Reagan, and into residential fire protection.

Jim Burcham, a broker with Coldwell Banker Commercial Argue Properties, said R&W paid $253,000 for land at 533 N. Elm Pl., a former trailer park that neighbors R&W's headquarters.

R&W, which already has 18,500 square feet under roof at three buildings, intends to start earthwork next week for a $200,000, 7,000-square-foot warehouse on the new site. Reagan expects to complete that project in 90 days.

The company, which also goes by R&W Plumbing Contractors, plans to add three more 5,000-square-foot metal-frame structures. At $35 a square foot, plus electrical, plumbing and other costs, Reagan estimated the cost at $175,000 each.

We'll probably build one of them late this year, he said, and the other two in 2007.

In Bentonville, Ark., R&W will construct a 5,000-square-foot warehouse and office this year once developers complete the industrial park it will sit in. Reagan also placed its cost at around $175,000.

We should be breaking ground there in 60 days, he said.

That facility will provide R&W its second Arkansas office, following the 2004 opening in Lowell. The company employs six full- time workers there.

The company serves about 35 builders in the Tulsa area. Over the past 31 years R&W has plumbed over 15,000 houses.

Last year we did in the neighborhood of 850, and we've grown even more this year, he said. This first quarter has been even better than last year.

Reagan said company revenue rose 25 percent last year, after a 5- percent increase in 2004. …
