Bass Pro Sales Figures Slip in OKC

Bass Pro Shops' Outdoor World sales for five of the first six months of the year have fallen below figures for the same period last year at the Bricktown store, for a total difference of $1.8 million through June, public records show.

Oklahoma City sales for June were $3.47 million, the private sporting goods retailer reported, more than $500,000 less than the same month in 2005. For the first six months, the store reported sales of $14.68 million, compared with $16.46 million through June in 2005.

The information was made available as part of the Missouri-based chain's lease contract with the city. The Oklahoma City Council made the decision to lure Bass Pro to Bricktown in mid-2002 in the hopes the anchor tenant would stimulate private development in the district. The city leased the 104,000-square-foot building near Interstate 40 to Bass Pro through the authority. City Council members approved an investment of about $19 million to cover construction costs, in exchange for annual payments of $710,000. …
