Cherokee Nation Enterprises Acquire 6.7 Acres beside Tulsa Resort

Cherokee Nation Enterprises has acquired 6.7 acres east of its Cherokee Casino Resort for an undisclosed price.

The 193 E. Avenue property had been the site of the Mayberry's/ Sunmart Truck Stop, operator of a restaurant, truck stop and convenience store along Interstate 44. Now closed, that facility will be demolished within six months.

This marks the third property acquisition at that corner this year by the Cherokee Nation's business arm.

In April, the Catoosa firm bought the 113-room Super 8 Motel just outside the casino. It then acquired the Speedy's gas station beside the Super 8, across the street from Mayberry's.

The motel was promptly rebranded Cherokee Casino Inn, forming a chain with a similarly rebranded 44-room Roland motel bought in May.

Cherokee Nation Enterprises has no plans for Speedy's at this time. Although environmental upgrades are under way at the site, officials said the gasoline and convenience store will be closed later this year. …
