Tulsa RailCrew Xpress Drivers Vote to Go with Teamsters

Employees at the RailCrew Xpress facility in Tulsa voted for Teamster representation, the union said Thursday.

The 21 employees are van drivers who provide transportation for locomotive engineers and other rail operating crew members from their home terminal to their initial terminal and to their away- from-home terminal.

The workers voted to join Teamsters Local 523, said Gary Ketchum, president of Teamsters Local 523.

Randall West, Railcrew Xpress CEO, did not return a phone call seeking comment. The Lenexa, Kan.-based company, formed in August 2005, provides van service for locomotive engineers across the U.S.

"We've heard from other RailCrew Xpress workers that they would like to be part of the Teamsters union, too," said Ketchum. "We will do whatever we can to represent these hardworking employees and help them gain a solid contract."

Local 523 represents Teamster members working in a variety of industries across the Tulsa metro, Ketchum said.

There are now three locals in the state. …
