State tax conference set in Oklahoma City

The Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants' 2010 Oklahoma Tax Institute is scheduled Thursday and Friday at the Clarion Meridian Convention Center in Oklahoma City.

Sessions will include federal and state updates, oil and gas taxation, retirement planning, technology trends, ethics and more.

Business tax planning workshops offered

Workshops to help businesses with year-end tax planning are scheduled in Moore and Norman.

The sessions are scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Moore Public Library, 225 S. Howard St., and from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Norman Public Library, 225 N. Webster Ave.

Certified public accountants will be the workshop presenters.

Workshop co-sponsors are Moore Norman Technology Center, Pioneer Library System and the Women's Business Center of Rural Enterprises of Oklahoma Inc.

Business tax workshop set in Idabel

Rural Enterprises of Oklahoma Inc. will present a free workshop for business owners from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Kiamichi Technology Center in Idabel.

Dewey Brandon, with the Oklahoma Tax Commission, will present the program titled, "Business and Tax Basics for Small Businesses."

"This workshop is beneficial for those wanting to start or expand a business," said Barbara Rackley, coordinator of REI's Business Women's Center. "Attendees always learn new information as tax laws are always changing and everyone needs updates."
