Chesapeake, OnCue Bring CNG Facilities to Six Communities across Oklahoma

Article excerpt

Chesapeake Energy Corp. has teamed with OnCue Express convenience stores to open compressed natural gas fueling stations in six communities across Oklahoma.

At the same time, Chesapeake is opening three stations in the Oklahoma City metro.

This month, Chesapeake started opening stations in Weatherford, Waynoka, Lindsay, Arkoma and Wilburton. An additional station in El Reno will open this winter and will serve Chesapeake fleet vehicles and the general public.

Three new CNG stations in the Oklahoma City area are open for public use: at 23rd Street and Santa Fe Avenue, Reno Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard, and Ninth Street and Broadway Avenue in Edmond.

Bringing CNG to communities across Oklahoma allows the community, state and nation to take a step forward in reducing our dependency on foreign oil, while supporting our top energy resources, said James Roller, Chesapeake market development coordinator.

"Natural gas enables businesses, schools and cities to lower fuel expenses while improving their budgets. Natural gas also creates cleaner air quality, sells at a significant discount to gasoline and is abundant and domestically produced, all of which support the overall energy industry in Oklahoma, an industry that provides one in seven state jobs," Roller said.

Compressed natural gas is affordable, clean and good for Oklahoma and is much more price-stable, said Jim Griffith, OnCue marketing president and CEO.

"While unleaded prices are near $3 per gallon, CNG from OnCue has remained $1.39 per gallon since last summer," Griffith said. "The price difference has been a significant incentive for businesses, schools, cities and individuals to convert to CNG."

OnCue Express LLC of Stillwater will own and operate the CNG stations. They will be open to anyone who has a CNG or bi-fuel vehicle.

With additional partnerships with Love's Country Stores, OnCue Express and Hutchinson Oil, Chesapeake has 11 new CNG stations - nine of which are operated by OnCue. …
