Credit Counseling Centers elects board

Floyd Schulte, Public Service Company of Oklahoma, has been elected to serve as chairman of Credit Counseling Centers of Oklahoma's board of directors.

Schulte has been a member of the board for five years.

Other officers include Sissy Osteen, Oklahoma State University Corporate Extension, chair-elect; Sheryl St. George, American Airlines, vice chair; Tina Birch, Alliance Resource Partners, secretary; and Steven Howe, JP Morgan Chase, treasurer.

State benefits director named to panel

Philip K. Kraft, executive director of Oklahoma's Employees Benefits Council, has been appointed to the state's Compensation and Unclassified Positions Review Board by then-Gov. Brad Henry.

The Compensation and Unclassified Positions Review Board includes members appointed by the governor, the president pro tempore of the Senate and the speaker of the House of Representatives. The board is responsible for making recommendations concerning state employee compensation and benefits to the governor and legislative leadership. Kraft is filling one of two positions appointed by the governor.

Kraft has 22 years of service with the state.

Tax information to be offered at luncheon

The Northwest Chamber will provide tax information at a "Business Brown Bag Lunch" at noon Thursday at Weokie Credit Union, 5909 Northwest Expressway in Oklahoma City.

The topic of this discussion will be "New Year, New Rules: Tax Information for 2011."

The free luncheon will include a panel of representatives from the Oklahoma Tax Commission, Internal Revenue Service and a certified public accountant.

IRS workshop set

A free women's business workshop entitled "IRS Small Business Tax for 2010 and 2011" is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Jan. 25 at the Moore Public Library.

The registration deadline is Monday. To register, call (405) 319- 8190.

Topics will include small business health care tax credits, hiring versus contracting employees, Small Business Jobs Act Tax provisions, domestic production activity deductions and retirement plans for small business.
