Smile Brands to open Okla. dental clinics

Smile Brands Inc. plans to enter the Oklahoma market with dental offices in Yukon and Norman.

Monarch Dental, an affiliated brand of Smile Brands Inc., will open an office at Yukon Village, 1670 Garth Brooks Blvd. in Yukon on July 8 and at University Town Center, 1732 24th NW in Norman on July 22. Smile Brands, based in Irvine, Calif., had 329 dental offices at the end of 2010 and plans to add 35 more offices by the end of 2011.

Hillcrest outpatient imaging center open

Hillcrest Medical Center has opened an outpatient imaging center on the campus of the University of Oklahoma-Tulsa.

Hillcrest Medical Center Outpatient Imaging is inside the OU Schusterman Center Clinic.

Hillcrest Medical Center Outpatient Imaging at OU-Tulsa is the hospital's fourth outpatient imaging center. It also operates the Chapman Breast Center in the Peggy V. Helmerich Women's Health Center and Hillcrest Outpatient Imaging, both on the campus of Hillcrest Medical Center, and an MRI center in Broken Arrow.

PD-Rx buys Wilson Medical's EMR

PD-Rx Pharmaceuticals Inc. of Oklahoma City has purchased Washington EMR, an electronic medical record, from Wilson Medical Software.

Washington EMR is a tool for physicians to maintain patient charts electronically. Eric Wilson has joined PD-Rx Pharmaceuticals' software development team. As president of Wilson Medical Software, Wilson developed the electronic medical record software program while working with physicians in California.

Laura Bush to speak at gala in Tulsa

Former first lady Laura W. Bush will be the keynote speaker for the 2011 Champions of Health Gala on Oct. 25 in Tulsa.

Nominations are being accepted through July 15 for the Champions of Health awards, which seek to recognize individuals and organizations who make a difference and improve the health of Oklahomans. Winners will be honored by Bush at the Champions of Health Gala.

The event is a fundraiser for the Oklahoma Caring Foundation, which provides free health services to children across the state. …
