First Half Helps Alices Post Win over Tigers

A strong first half was all Vincennes Lincoln's boys' basketball team needed Friday night in a victory over visiting Memorial. The Alices racked up 39 first-half points, then hung on for a 74-70 win.

Lincoln outscored the Tigers 21-17 in the first quarter, then added 18 more points to Memorial's 15 in the second.

Jordon Shots paced three Lincoln players in double figures, scoring 21 points with the help of 10 field goals. Avory Mickens was right behind with 19 points, and Nick Klumpp tallied 17 as the Alices (13-6), who has won six of their last seven games.

Alphonso Baity and Brandon Auker led Memorial (12-6) with 19 points apiece. Adam Eberhard contributed 15.

Terre Haute South 60, North 53: Jeffrey Turner and Jermaine Smith each scored more than 20 points to lead the Braves over the visiting Huskies.

South outscored North 17-6 in the second quarter to take control.

Turner finished with 22 points while Smith was right behind with 21 as the Braves (7-14) won for only the second time in their last seven games.

The Huskies (10-8) got 15 points from Jaylen Chambers, 13 from Ty Pauley and 11 from Jay'von Gilmore.

Heritage Hills 117, Tell City 73: The Patriots scored more than 20 points in each quarter Friday night on their way to a rout.

Heritage Hills (9-10), after outscoring the host Marksmen 28-21 in the first quarter, went to outscore them 56-25 in the next two periods.

Gavin Schaefer scored 20 points to lead seven Patriots - who broke a three-game losing streak - in double figures. Damon Wahl scored 16, Devon Wahl and Devon Merder added 15 each, Adam Price tallied 14 points, Jack Woolems totaled 11, and Logan Schaefer finished with 10.

Chris Kohnert scored a game-high 30 points to lead Tell City (5- 14), which lost its third straight game, while Matthew Watts contributed 22. …
