EVANSVILLE

City will lighten up on patrol car fleet

The Evansville Police Department said Friday it will revert to white patrol cars after both officers and the public indicated they preferred the lighter-colored color vehicle.

The department was converting its patrol fleet to black vehicles and had purchased seven over the past few months.

Police Chief Billy Bolin based the reversal on safety data for dark-and light-colored cars and input from officers and the public.

Officers said the black cars were hot during warm weather, and some citizens said they felt the purpose of switching to the black cars was to make officers less visible.

Suspect asks to bar former prosecutor

Lawyers for a former Indiana state trooper facing his third trial on charges of killing his family don't want the attorney who prosecuted him last time to have anything to do with the upcoming trial.

A hearing will be held April 18 on a motion by David Camm's attorneys asking that Floyd County Prosecutor Keith Henderson be barred from helping Special Prosecutor Stanley Levco, who was appointed to replace him, the Courier-Journal of Louisville, Ky. …
