Evansville, Ind. George Franklin Draughon, 94, formerly of Dunn, North Carolina, passed away on April 4, 2012, at his son's home in Evansville, Indiana.

George was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Marine Corps stationed on American Samoa. After the war, he embarked on a lengthy career in retail management for department and men's clothing stores.

He was a devoted and loving husband and father who will be greatly missed by many.

George had a passion for music and was a wonderful pianist and organist with a vast repertoire of music across decades of the 20th century. In retirement he often contributed his time and talent entertaining the elderly and sick at retirement homes and hospitals. He loved the outdoors and greatly enjoyed taking long drives in the countryside. A special thanks to Thelma Winstead who provided loving care, support, and drives in the country during his later years.

George is survived by daughter, Alice Draughon, her daughter, Anna, and Anna's son, Collin, of Huntington, West Virginia; son, George Draughon Jr. …
